Architechnology – mission Architechnology provides a platform for architectural critique, debate, analysis and comparison regarding current design trends, philosophies and contextual influences. The resulting discussions take place in the context of architecture that is appropriate to the African context. Architechnology is distributed to all South African architectural professionals – ranging from architects to architectural technologists in line with the different categories of registration at the South African Council for the Architectural Profession. A total print run of 3500 copies as of March 2006 will ensure that the magazine reaches the entire profession. A smaller component of the readership also comprises manufacturers and suppliers of building products, building contractors and developers. Initially distributed as a supplement to Building Africa magazine, Architechnology is now published and distributed independently on a quarterly basis. Both in writing style and graphic presentation the magazine is positioned to appeal to architects and design professionals. Extensive use of architectural drawings and plans, combined with quality photographs ensure that the magazine appeals to its very visually literate audience. With Architechnology’s publisher, as well as some of its contributors, being qualified in the field of architecture the magazine is well positioned to become the read of choice among architects.
